While we were waiting for the Divas 4 Divas--Kuh Ledesma, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Pops Fernandez and Regine Velasquez--in Teatrino, there was gothic/techno music in the background, serving as proof to its audio capabilities – the venue has an approx. 80-seat capacity with an ambiance reminiscent of the Renaissance period. Producer Precy Florentino then stepped in and introduced the divas. She said, “Putting together the four divas is a task in itself.” She also uttered that this production is “Four times bigger. Four times grander.”


Then they answered media questions:


Is there an ongoing issue among the four of you?


Pops: Of course, there will always be issues, but Regine and I have been good friends ever since. We even did “Queens on Fire.” It makes you respect them more, because they’re so real. That’s really the only time you get to know them, and then there’s an added bonus when you see how fun they are to be with. With others, when the work is done, that’s it, but with them, there’s this concern they have. Regine even calls up and asks, ‘Hey, is it true?’


Zsa Zsa: The fans love occasional catfights.


Pops [to Regine]: Let’s pretend we’re fighting over Ogie.


Regine: Don’t do that. He’s actually very lovable.


Zsa Zsa: Ogie?


Regine: Dolphy.



Could you give us some live concert anecdotes?


Regine: Me, I have one, I have one, I have one!


ZsaZsa: Sometimes I wear a dress and then I find out when I’m on stage that the stitches are visible outside. Sometimes, the fake nails would come off, and we’d be picking them while doing the show.


Regine: I have a lot to tell about Pops! On second thought…never mind.


Pops: Regine and I spend all night on the intercom, even though our rooms are next to each other. It’s a sin to sleep, even if we have a show the next day.


Regine: Kuh is like this: ‘Hey Regine, slim down, you’re fat.’


Zsa Zsa: She [Kuh] says to me: ‘Help me convince Regine to shape up.’ I say to her, ‘That’s my problem too.’


Regine [to Zsa Zsa]: What part of you gained weight, your knees?


Kuh: When we get to Araneta, we should all be trimmed.


Regine: I’ll be the sexiest in Araneta. I thought people worked for them to be able to eat?! Back then I didn’t have enough money so I couldn’t eat. Now I have money, I still can’t eat.



Are you always this hilarious?


Pops: We’re crazier. Actually, we’re still holding back because we’re in front of you guys.
Kuh: It’s going to be a lot of fun. All of us are funny, the only serious one here is Regine.
